BEE Community Minded
The Bee Community Minded projects deliver our not-for-profit services. We developed this in 2021 in response to experiencing a significant unmet need for the types of services we are offering, with a shared desire to provide low-cost or no-cost therapeutic services to those in need of support.
We are working hard to complete grant applications to try and generate funded packages of support that local families are letting us know they need. Our Directors and team members are voluntary in their service development and funding efforts and commit their spare time to this cause. We would all prefer to be using this time to offer more of the much needed direct therapy and interventions. It is also difficult to plan support when we have to wait significant amounts of time to hear if funding applications have been successful. In the meantime - families are left waiting for therapies and trained therapists are using their time filling in paperwork!
We want to try something different and need the help of anyone who feels that they would like to support our service to develop.

Our Aims
Our immediate fundraising aims will focus on helping us to offer therapeutic support to families who need this now. We want to accept more referrals from the families and professionals who are getting in touch, as well as continuing packages of support for children who need more help. All of our charitably raised funds are directed towards what is needed to meet the below aims:
- Offer direct therapies and wellbeing interventions for individuals and groups - Our team specialise in supporting young people and their families where there has been developmental traumas and/or complex needs are presenting. We offer individual and family based work for both children and adults.
- Parental/Carer Interventions: Our NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) group aims to offer specific support to families where there are struggles managing aggressive, violent, or self-destructive behaviour by increasing parental presence and confidence. Every time we get funding to offer this group we receive significantly higher demand than available funding can meet. Feedback from families lets us know we must keep trying to make this support available and accessible on an ongoing basis.
- Offer specific services to children and their families/carers in areas we know are low in available support such as children struggling to access school, with neurodivergence, disabilities and/or sensory needs.
- Offer consultation to parents and carers to understand and support their children's needs.
- Develop useful tools and self-help resources to help families who cannot access direct interventions.
- Understand what is available locally and work with other services, projects and teams so that we can do more together.
- Offer training and professional development to local teams and services to share skills and knowledge.

Support our service
Help us to offer ongoing core services. Your regular monthly donations enable us to offer much needed low/no cost therapeutic and wellbeing services to the children and families who need them.
If you are an individual or business who wishes to help - any contribution can be put to good use!
Fundraising
Individuals, teams, or businesses can fundraise on our behalf - promoting collection boxes, team events, Sky dives - whatever your style! these contributions are valuable to our service.

Rehome/Gift on a Furapy Friend
There are multiple ways to do this. You can make a one off donation to reheome or gift on a Furapy Friend via our shop or you can become a Hive member and support the continuation of our core services with a regular donation and opt to receive or gift on a Furapy Friend in exchange for your donation.
Every Furapy Friend rehomed will directly support Bee Community Minded, as the proceeds help fund our therapy programmes, making professional support more accessible for children, parents and carers who may otherwise struggle to access the help they need.

Other ways to help us would be to spread the word, visit our social media platforms and share our projects and resources with anyone who might benefit or wish to offer support.
You could also Donate items. We gratefully accept donations of items we can use in our services and projects, such as soft toys who can be trained as Furapy Friends, handmade items such as art supplies and materials for our therapeutic spaces or any goods which may be suitable for raffles or fundraising events. Please get in touch with us if you have any donations which could help.
Our Commitment to Transparency and Accountability
Please note, our Community Interest Company operates solely for not-for-profit purposes. The Executive Director is a registered professional, and our team of non-executive directors come from diverse professional and community backgrounds. All financial and non-financial donations are managed by an accountable business support team, and financial transactions are processed through business banking systems and managed by an externally appointed chartered accountant.
Your trust in our transparency and accountability is essential to us.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Support us by becoming a Hive Member and making an ongoing donation you can indicate in the membership address section what you need a Furapy Friend to help with, as well as providing your postal address. We will get your Friend out to you within 2 weeks of receiving notification of your member status.
2. Make a one off donation in our shop by purchasing one of the advertised Furapy Friends.
You will receive a Furapy Friend and a certificate of adoption. Each Friend is specially trained to help with a certain area of need such as: feeling calm, settled sleep, building confidence. You will also find a range of resources on our website to support this need.
If you sign up as a Hive member and make a donation you will be able to let us know what type of need you want the Friend to help with. We will find the right Friend for you.
If you don't need the Friend and just want to support our work - you can opt to gift it on and we will make sure that it gets to someone who does need it.
If you explore our shop you will be able to choose a specific Friend from the ones available for a one off donation. You can still choose to join our Hive and make an ongoing donation if you would like to do that.
We will be training Friends for all sorts of helping roles - do get in touch and let us know if there is something you need and our Therapists will look to train a dedicated Friend to help.
Our Furapy Friends are designed to provide comfort, encouragement and emotional wellbeing support. They are not a substitute for professional mental health assessment, diagnosis or therapeutic intervention.
If you or your child are experiencing significant emotional distress, mental health difficulties, or concerns about safety or wellbeing, we encourage you to seek appropriate professional support.

If someone in your life needs a Furapy Friend but is not able to donate, please join our Bee Community Minded facebook group or send us a direct message via the website advising what they need the Furapy Friend to help with.
Many of our members and donators will do so with the view to gifting a Friend to a child or person who needs this. We will keep a holding list of people who are in need of donor gifted Friends and make contact with you when we have a Friend ready to help.

Ways to gift a Furapy Friend to a child or person who needs this:
1. Support us as an ongoing Hive member and indicate in the membership address section by writing ‘gift’. We will make sure a Friend gets to someone who needs it.
2. Make a one off donation in our shop by purchasing one of the advertised Furapy Friends and indicate in the address section by writing ‘gift’. We will make sure this Friend gets to someone who needs it
3. We rely on donations of soft toys to keep this project going. If you have preloved soft toys that you think would be good Furapy Friends please do donate. We will train them at Furapy Training School and rehome them within the community.

Our building is a therapy centre and sessions are by appointment only. Please DO NOT bring donations to our building as there may not be anyone available to assist and this will disturb therapy sessions in progress.
For the same reason as above it would be difficult for us to manage a collection based service. If your child is receiving services from our team you may be able to collect via your Therapist.

Unfortunately this is not possible.
There are strict limits about how much interaction therapy support animals can have to ensure that this is safe and ethical for their needs.

Rambo still assists his human Therapist on a part-time basis to work with children and young people who need his help.
The hope of Furapy Friends is to ensure that anyone who needs it can have emotional support from an animal friend and we will be working hard to online content, interactive website resources and other things to achieve this which is available to everyone.
We will be collaborating with a local rescue centre which is very close to our hearts which may be able to arrange face to face therapeutic animal visits. Please join our Bee Community Minded Facebook page or sign up as Hive member to be kept updated.
All of Furapy Friends are preloved, so they may have little marks or imperfections—and that’s what makes each one special!
Just like us, nobody needs to be perfect to be loved, valued, and helpful. Every Friend has graduated from Furapy Training School and is ready to bring comfort and joy.
Payments for Friends are considered donation-based, supporting our not-for-profit therapeutic services.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), we are driven by purpose rather than profit. All donations are reinvested directly back into developing and improving our services, enabling us to reach more families who need support.

- Provide therapeutic and wellbeing support for children, young people and families.
- Develop new therapeutic resources, activities and wellbeing tools.
- Create free information, guides and workshops for parents, carers, schools and professionals.
- Expand our Furapy Friends programme so that more children can receive comfort and emotional support.

- Develop new community projects that respond to local need and reduce barriers to accessing support.
- Offer subsidised or low-cost services where funding is limited, helping families who might otherwise be unable to access support.
